You’ve Outgrown That Place
The Story
This isn’t the start of a new season, just a thought that lingered long enough to break the pause. A talk with my son got me thinking about how growth can feel uncomfortable. Often, nothing is wrong, the place or routine that once fit simply doesn’t anymore.
This is about noticing that shift and choosing what honors who you’re becoming.
Fabiola: Hi, this is not part of a season. I am in fact on a break, but I thought about dropping this. And I can tell you that it came from a conversation I had with my son recently, and he stayed with me long after we finished talking. And I thought about sharing this with you. He was telling me that he was feeling stressed. I listened, then I said to him, You are becoming. You have become a man. That is why you are beginning to feel stressed. and I have to tell you, not because becoming a man means that life must become difficult. But because growth changes what you can tolerate, it changes what feels acceptable and makes you aware of the things that no longer fit. I told him, you are uncomfortable because you have outgrown the place where you have been. and I think many of us are experiencing that same discomfort. We often imagine growth as something that should feel exciting. We expect confidence, clarity, in a sense that everything is finally coming together. But sometimes growth feels more like restlessness. You know that something has changed, but you have not yet decided what to do about it. The place you have outgrown may not be a physical place. It could be a relationship. It could be a routine or even an old understanding of yourself. It may have served you well at one point. It may have once felt safe. But now staying there requires you to ignore who you are becoming. That is where the stress begins. You keep trying to make yourself comfortable in a space that can no longer hold you. Your question, your feelings. You wonder. why you cannot simply be grateful. But gratitude does not require you to remain unchanged. You can appreciate what a place gave you and still recognize that it is time to move forward. So wanna ask you, Have you realized that you have outgrown the place where you once felt comfortable? If you have, your next step may not be to leave immediately. Your next be to stop pretending that everything still fits. Be honest. Be honest about what has changed. be honest about what you now want. Then begin making decisions that respect the person you are becoming. It is my hope that you have started to decide because I have. I'll talk to you soon. Yeah.
